Princess Kate Middleton reveals Cancer Diagnosis

reading time: 5 mins.

Kate, the Princess of Wales, revealed in a video message released on Friday that she has been diagnosed with cancer and is currently undergoing chemotherapy, following a major abdominal surgery she underwent two months ago. The specific type of cancer has not been disclosed, but according to Kensington Palace, Kate initiated a course of preventative chemotherapy at the end of February.

The news has elicited an outpouring of support, especially as it coincides with King Charles III, Kate's father-in-law, also undergoing cancer treatment. In her video message filmed at Windsor on Wednesday, Kate, aged 42, expressed her shock at the diagnosis and emphasized the importance of managing it privately for the sake of her young family.

The discovery of the cancer came during post-operative tests following her mid-January abdominal surgery, initially believed to be non-cancerous. Kate described the surgery as significant, and despite its success, subsequent tests revealed the presence of cancer, prompting her medical team to recommend preventative chemotherapy, which she has commenced.

Throughout this challenging time, Kate acknowledged the support of her husband, Prince William, who has been a source of comfort and reassurance. She also emphasized the need for privacy as she undergoes treatment and focuses on her recovery. Her return to official duties will be contingent upon clearance from her medical team.

King Charles III expressed his pride in Kate's courage in addressing her diagnosis publicly, and he has remained closely connected with her throughout her treatment. Both he and Queen Camilla continue to offer their support to the entire family.

Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, extended their well wishes to Kate and her family, emphasizing the importance of privacy and peace during this time. UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak echoed these sentiments, highlighting Kate's bravery and emphasizing the need for privacy and respect during her treatment.

The announcement comes amidst reports of an investigation into several staffers at the London Clinic, where Kate was admitted in January, allegedly attempting to access her medical records. Additionally, Kate recently faced a photo editing controversy surrounding an image she shared on Mother's Day, which she later clarified was edited and apologized for any confusion it caused.

Meanwhile, King Charles III continues his own undisclosed cancer treatment, following an earlier announcement about his diagnosis in February. The type of treatment remains undisclosed, but the prime minister indicated that the cancer was caught early, offering hope for successful treatment and recovery.

At The Sfag today we are saddened by Kate's discovering and having to go under cancer treatment and we wish her nothing but the best for her family and hear health.

Dearly, Mike.
