Wether you like Dua Lipa's songs or not, its almost impossible you have never crossed over a radio station, article from a magazine or so without listening to one of her songs or reading about her..
On May 3rd 2024, Due Lipa will - finally - release new album titled "Radical Optimism" featuring 11 tracks including "Houdini", "Training Season" and "Illusion".
Today we are discovering Album concept and Dua's secret of success she shared in Time 100 magazine cover and on Elle Magazine Cover.
During her time at theater school as a teenager, Lipa began sharing cover songs on platforms like YouTube and SoundCloud, while also juggling jobs as a server in restaurants and nightclubs. She even ventured into modeling after signing with an agency.
In 2013, Lipa landed her first singing gig performing a version of Sister Sledge's "Lost in Music" for a televised X Factor ad. This opportunity led to a publishing deal with TaP Music, followed by a record deal with Warner Bros. Lipa later left TaP's artist roster in 2022 and regained control of her publishing rights last fall.
Lipa's debut single, "New Love," came out in 2015, followed by hits like "Be the One," "Hotter Than Hell," "Blow Your Mind (Mwah)," and a collaboration with Sean Paul titled "No Lie" in 2016. Her self-titled debut studio album was released in summer 2017. The success of her debut album led to multiple nominations and wins at prestigious award shows like the Brit Awards and the Grammy Awards.
Her career expanded into film and television, with appearances in projects like the Barbie franchise and the spy thriller Argylle, where she played a Bond-esque villain named LaGrange. Despite these ventures, Lipa's main focus remains on releasing her third album.
She has assembled a team of talented collaborators for this project, including Tame Impala's Kevin Parker, Caroline Ailin, Danny L Harle, and Tobias Jesso Jr.
The album explores new sonic territory and reflects Lipa's growth and confidence as an artist and individual. Additionally, Lipa recently launched Radical22, an independent media and management company, showcasing her multifaceted talents beyond music.Written in November 2022, “Training Season” delves into Lipa’s experiences with a series of dates and long-term relationships, often arranged by her friends. She has been in relationships with notable figures like Anwar Hadid, the brother of Bella and Gigi, and French director Romain Gavras. More recently, she was seen vacationing in Mexico with British actor Callum Turner. Lipa's attitude towards relationships is pragmatic: “As long as everyone knows where they stand, then you’re good,” she remarks casually.
These days, Lipa is more cryptic about her personal life, choosing to express her experiences through her music. “Training Season” reflects her belief in the power of manifesting desires through words and self-awareness. Lipa emphasizes the importance of knowing one's worth and desires, which she translates into her songwriting.
She also discusses the value of being single and how it allows for self-discovery and personal growth. Lipa sees this period as a learning experience, whether through dating or spending time alone. “In the silence, you figure out who you really are,” she reflects. “In the grand scheme of things, I was doing research.”
Her latest album, "Radical Optimism," was crafted with a talented team of co-songwriters and producers, including Caroline Ailin, Tobias Jesso Jr., and Danny L Harle. She also collaborated
with Kevin Parker of Tame Impala, forming what they humorously called "The Band" during their studio sessions. The album's first single, “Houdini,” was a product of their creative synergy, blending moody post-disco elements with a touch of early-'80s intrigue. The collaborative process allowed Lipa to explore new sonic territories while staying true to her artistic vision.
