Yes, today I did it, after months of procrastinating I finally - but mostly it was my impulsive
decisions - went to the gym and I hope this at least it will last long enough to reach the summer with a decent kind of body LOL, anyway I prepared my gym bag, water bottle and everything else I needed, I was so enthusiast about it till I saw the many people that were already there but I played it smart by listening to "yes, and" by mother Ariana and did it successfully!
I noticed after the workout my mood improvements too, I read once online that who's affected by ADHD receives the right amount of dopamine which can boosts our mood.. and thats why I used to wake up at 4 am and start my morning with a nice workout (screaming internally).
So lets explore more why ADHD people might need to exercise more instead of laying on our sofas all day long doing nothing instead and lets put it into action!
Exercise has been found by science to have a positive impact on ADHD by boosting neurotransmitters like dopamine and norepinephrine, which are crucial for regulating attention. Regular physical activity can increase the baseline levels of these neurotransmitters by encouraging the growth of new receptors in specific brain regions.
Additionally, exercise helps in balancing norepinephrine levels in the brain stem's arousal center. Neuroscientist and psychiatrist Amelia Russo-Neustadt, M.D., Ph.D., from California State University, explains that consistent exercise enhances the tone of the locus coeruleus, leading to reduced startle responses and irritability.
Thinking of exercise as a way to maintain
the smooth operation of the basal ganglia, responsible for managing attention shifts, is helpful. This area is crucial for the action of stimulants and is often abnormal in children with ADHD, as shown in brain scans.
Studies, including research by Rodney Dishman, Ph.D., from the University of Georgia, have looked into how exercise affects ADHD symptoms. They found that rigorous exercise improved motor reflex inhibition in boys, while girls showed improvement in dopamine synapse sensitivity after different levels of exercise intensity.
Various activities like martial arts, ballet, and other technical sports have shown benefits for individuals with ADHD, activating multiple brain areas responsible for balance, timing, and intense focus. Moreover, exercise influences brain areas like the cerebellum and limbic system, aiding in regulation and control of impulses and emotions.
It also enhances the prefrontal cortex's performance, crucial for executive functions such as working memory and task switching.
Experts recommend combining exercise with medication for managing ADHD symptoms effectively.
Daily aerobic exercise, even for 30 minutes, can significantly improve focus and cognitive abilities throughout the day. Adjusting the timing of exercise and medication intake based on individual needs can maximize the benefits of both approaches.
Obviously, consult an expert for medications!
At TheSfag I couldn't help it but wonder.. "how long will mike exercising at 4 am will last?"
Meanwhile I ask myself this.. im pretty sure it will last a month or so but at least I tried!
Dearly, Your Sweaty Mike.
